In an exclusive with Travis Margoni of Beyond the Beat, Rachel Rourke - one of Oregon State University's most decorated former volleyball players – talks about turning professional with Cedat 85 Volley San Vito in Italy. The 6-foot-5 outside hitter finished her OSU career as the best offensive player in school history, compiling a record 1,920 kills, was All-American honorable mention as a junior and a second team All American as a senior.  And now that she’s turned pro, Rourke isn’t ready to stop climbing to the top.

The Portland State Vikings men’s basketball team is in some select hoops company down in the Bahamas. The Vikings are competing against the Bahamas Basketball Federation's (BBF)'Summer of Thunder' Tournament along with teams like North Carolina and Ohio State. PSU plays the Cybots organization on Friday, The Real Deal Shockers on Sunday, and a young All-star team from The Bahamas next Monday.

LeGarrette Blount was cut by the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, but his NFL days are only just beginning. Blount was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and while the Bucs are planning on using Cadillac Williams are their primary running back, Blount should have his chance to show he belongs in the league. But for Blount, it’s never been a case of his talent – he tallied 118 yards on 31 carries in the preseason. This has become more about his temper or at least ability to control it after his spotty past at Oregon and even recent scuffle in Titans camp.

"They trusted me when I told them it wasn't going to happen again," Blount told the St. Petersburg Times.  "Most people have forgotten about it (the incident against Boise State). They don't even bring it up anymore. I forgot about how that whole thing went."

The Oregon State Beavers are preparing for Boise State, and the Broncos have no plans on being hospitable. Boise State is 63-2 at home since 2000 and are flirting with history as they chase a BCS title, while OSU will be all about the upset in some hostile territory. The Broncos aren’t in the BCS clear yet. There is always the injury factor to consider in shooting for a perfect season. If anything, they can learn a little something from the Oregon Ducks and their title hopes back in 2007 when Dennis Dixon went down.

Speaking of Dixon – who will begin as the starting quarterback for Pittsburgh against the Atlanta Falcons with Ben Roethlisberger serving his suspension – will get the chance to retain his starting job according to Steelers' head coach Mike Tomlin even upon Big Ben’s return. Apparently everyone isn’t sold on even the thought of the idea. Dixon may not be Roethlisberger....but a spare tire?

Tennessee versus Oregon may have a little extra meaning for the Vols tight end, Mychal Rivera. But will the final result be in his favor? Rivera originally signed out of Birmingham High School in Los Angeles in 2008, but changed his mind once Oregon made a head coaching change from Mike Bellotti.

"Out of high school that was a great program," Rivera told the Knoxsville News Sentinel. "After (former Oregon) Coach (Mike) Bellotti left, the program just wasn't fit for me anymore. It changed a lot, and I just looked otherwise.

"It changed in certain ways that I wasn't really on the depth chart too much. I was getting overlooked, and I really didn't feel like I had a shot (to play). So I made a decision for me and my family and I left.”
