Will we ever see 100 points scored by a single player in an NBA game?

We’ve only heard about the story.

Wilt Chamberlain lived it.

On March 2, 1962 Wilt scored his record 100 points in a 169-147 Philadelphia Warriors win over the New York Knicks in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Let that sink in for a minute - 100 points. No three-pointers. And no way to stop him.

The stat line is just ridiculous: 36-of-63 from the field; 28-of-32 from the free throw line; 25 rebounds. And during that 61 – 62 season, his 50.4 ppg scoring average will also likely never be broken.

We can talk all we want about Chamberlain’s Hall of Fame accomplishments: NBA Rookie of the Year in 1960, 4-time NBA MVP, NBA Finals MVP, two championships and an NBA All-Star 13 times. His matchups against Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell are equally infamous as those numbers.

But when thinking of Wilt “the Stilt”, it’s hard not to consider his 100 point game as an everlasting mark in this league.

That’s one number no one in the NBA will match.
