History Black - Day 17: Rasheed Wallace
Written by wendell maxey

He won a ring in Detroit.

Now he’s looking to get re-sized in Boston.

But in these final hours of the NBA trade deadline, let’s not forget how Rasheed Wallace went from Portland to Atlanta on Feb. 9, 2004 weeks before the trade deadline along with Wesley Person for Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Theo Ratliff, and Dan Dickau.

Wallace played in a single game for the Hawks.

His stat line: 20 points and 6 rebounds and 5 blocks in 42 minutes with a loss to the New Jersey Nets. And the “walking technical foul” even managed to stay clean for a game. Brilliant.

"I'm getting sick of (reporters) asking about it, I'm getting sick of my family and friends' 'Yo, what are they going to do?"' Wallace said in his postgame interview when asked if he was going to be moved again for the deadline hit.

"In a couple more hours it'll be over with, so that's all I'm looking forward to."

You said it brother. This time of the year is always crazy in the NBA. That goes for players and us writers. But I’m not sure what beats Wallace going for his in Atlanta for a game days after being traded from Portland, only to be traded again to the Pistons and win a title in 2004.

Crazy.
