Just got word that the Minnesota Timberwolves have had talks with Blazers assistant Tom Penn about the Wolves open general manager job. Sounds promising. Could be the first of many offseason moves for Portland.
I’ll let the quick article over at HOOPSWORLD ("Penn On Wolves GM List") tell the rest of the story, at least for now.
Will pass along more info when I hear back from a couple more sources - both in Minny and with the Blazers. Trust me, it's one of the pillars of journalism to employ multiple sources. Because if you read the papers out of the Twin Cities on Wednesday, one report already had the Wolves offering the GM job to David Kahn - formerly of the Indiana Pacers and the man who tried to bring the Montreal Expos to Portland back in the day.
Then along came Penn. Or better yet, the Wolves knocking on Portland's door.
If Penn takes the gig - and it sounds like it's moving in that direction rather quickly - it could be the first of a couple offseason moves we'll see in Portland.
Stay tuned.
